What truly sets Deli apart is its exceptional wine selection. As customer Kathleen Mulligan fondly recalls, it was "one of the loveliest dining experiences we’ve had in Spain," praising the thoughtful wine pairings that enhanced every course. Guests also rave about the tasteful olive oil that flavors each dish, underscoring the authentic Andalusian essence of the meal.

During our Paradores tour through Andalusia, traveling with my husband and our baby, we made a conscious decision to stop at Deli in Montellano—and I can say, without any hesitation, that this was one of the most memorable and rewarding gastronomic experiences of the entire trip. This is not just a “good place for the area.” This is a restaurant that truly deserves a detour. The kind of place you plan around, not stumble upon. Montellano is a small town, and that’s precisely what makes Deli so impressive. You do not expect to find this level of culinary confidence, product quality, and service excellence here—and yet, from the very beginning, everything felt right. The atmosphere was calm, welcoming, and unpretentious, which made a huge difference for us as parents traveling with a baby. We never felt rushed, uncomfortable, or out of place. On the contrary, the rhythm of the service and the overall environment made the meal feel relaxed and genuinely enjoyable, something that is not always easy when dining with a baby. The service deserves special recognition. We were looked after by David Ortiz, who was, quite simply, exceptional. Knowledgeable, attentive, warm, and deeply professional, he struck the perfect balance between explaining the dishes with passion and allowing us to enjoy the experience at our own pace. His understanding of the menu, the ingredients, and the wines was outstanding, and his natural friendliness made the entire evening feel effortless. Without exaggeration, this was the best service we experienced throughout our entire trip. The food was outstanding from start to finish. We began with níscalos, which were beautifully prepared—full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and clearly treated with respect for the ingredient. Then came a revuelto made with wild tagarninas, a traditional Andalusian green that grows in fields and near riverbanks, visually similar to very thin green beans. This dish was absolutely spectacular: simple, deeply local, and executed with such precision that it became one of those plates you remember long after the meal is over. The bacalao was another highlight. David explained that it comes from Asturias, and the quality was immediately evident. The fish was perfectly cooked, with an impeccable texture and a clean, intense flavor. It was a dish that spoke of great product and confident cooking—nothing excessive, nothing hidden, just excellent execution. We then shared the paletilla de cordero, which was truly remarkable: tender, rich, and deeply satisfying, cooked exactly as it should be. The wine elevated the experience even further. We were recommended Tesalia, and it was absolutely extraordinary—elegant, expressive, and a perfect match for the food. It tied the entire meal together and reinforced the feeling that every recommendation was thoughtful and intentional. From the perspective of parents traveling with a baby, Deli is close to ideal. The atmosphere is calm, the service is patient and genuinely kind, and there is a sense that the team wants you to enjoy the experience fully, without pressure. We felt welcomed, not merely accommodated. In short, Deli was a highlight of our journey. Exceptional food, impeccable service, and a warm, relaxed environment that made us want to return immediately. We would absolutely come back and recommend it wholeheartedly. This restaurant truly deserves recognition, success, and many future guests willing to go out of their way to experience something genuinely special.

This restaurant is great. The food is delicious, the owner and his wife are very welcoming and the wine selection is wonderful. Great atmosphere for enjoying a delicious selection of food. I am just sorry that we missed our last meal here, on this visit to Montellano, due to my husband being unwell. However, we will always visit again, as often as possible.

Cosy, unpretentious and authentic food, restaurant and service. We had the pumpkin, stuffed peppers, lamb and crème brulle. The regional wine was great. Would really recommend, probably the best food we had in Andalusia
